On Monday, I had the opportunity to moderate my first Webinar for Education Week’s Digital Directions, this one on data-driven learning. Martha Greenway, the deputy superintendent of organizational advancement for Fulton County, Ga. schools, and Baron Rodriguez, the director of state data systems for the Data Quality Campaign, phoned in to talk about the ways that data can be used to help improve student achievement.

We easily could have extended the Webinar for another hour to address all the questions from the audience, but it still allowed for an in-depth discussion about this important topic. If you weren’t able to join in on the day of the Webinar, you can view an archived version of it here. Click here to download the slideshows.

I’m looking forward to a Webinar hosted by the Data Quality Campaign next Thursday, Dec. 10, called Data Exchange in the South: What is Working Right Now? Alicia Diaz, the assistant director of education data systems for the Southern Regional Education Board, will be sharing results from a series of interviews conducted with the SREB states about how they are linking K-12 and higher ed. data systems. I’m particularly interested in what she has to share since I’m working on a story about this very topic for the upcoming issue of Digital Directions, which will be out in January.
