CoSN Chronicles Broadband Challenges
A new report from the Consortium for School Networking, or CoSN, offers a look into the challenges educators across the country, and particularly in Colorado, North Carolina, and Indiana, have encountered in efforts to give all schools broadband Internet access.
The full report, which is available only to CoSN's members, features insight from Denise Atkinson-Shorey, the CIO of Colorado's EAGLE-Net broadband effort; Jeanne Hayes, who runs her own Colorado-based ed-tech consulting firm, Hayes Connection; Phil Emer, the director of technology planning and policy at North Carolina's Friday Institute for Innovation; and Lillian Kellogg, vice president of communications manager Education Networks of America. The insights come from discussions at a CoSN forum for chief technology officers held in late October.
It also includes information about the goals of the National Broadband Plan, unveiled by the FCC in March.
