Thought you might like to know about a couple upcoming webinars this week from the folks at the International Association for K-12 Online Learning and the Consortium for School Networking.

Tomorrow, iNACOL will be hosting “iRTI: Response to Intervention Online” to offer a look at what response to intervention programs look like when executed in a virtual environment. Response to intervention is an academic method that is designed to give early help to students with learning difficulties and provide data for identifying students with learning disabilities.

The webinar will feature several guests from the 32,000-student Spring Independent School District near Houston, which operates student and teacher assistance teams, utilizes data, and tracks student progress all in an online learning environment. Pricing is available for members and non-members, and for those who can’t attend, my colleague Katie Ash will be there—virtually, of course—to give you the highlights.

Then next Tuesday, CoSN can help you start your holiday-shortened week with an installment of its “Mastering the Moment” webinar series aimed to give participants insight into how districts can use technology to reform their educational practices while also helping tighten their spending. Guests include technology chiefs from districts in Texas, Louisiana, and Maryland, as well as Dianne Roussel, the superintendent from the 42,000-student Jefferson Parish Public School System in Louisiana, which wraps around just outside the boundaries of New Orleans.

The webinar is available for free for members, and should provide a preview of CoSN’s annual conference in March addressing the same theme, which I plan on attending. I also wrote about this issue in this year’s Quality Counts, which went live today.
