New CoSN Report: The Impact of E-Content
The Washington-based Consortium for School Networking recently released a new "mini"-report about the impact of e-content on education called "eContent—The Accelerating Shift from Print to Digital."
It defines what e-content is—everything from e-books and online content to blog comments—as well as how it can be used educationally. There are three driving forces behind the rise of e-content, says the report: the development and acquisition of mobile devices, the increased power of cloud computing, and budget cuts, which are prompting schools to make use of the content available on the Web.
However, with the rise of e-content comes some technical and educational concerns, the report points out. For example, verifying the validity of content posted on the Web, as well as how new models of content should be distributed and paid for. The report also features industry perspectives on the matter.
Only CoSN members have access to the report, which is part of their EdTechNext series, but you can find the press release here.
