Women's Demonstration Prompts North Carolina District to Cancel Classes

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro school district has canceled classes on March 8, when "A Day Without a Woman" demonstrations are planned in cities around the world. The district expects a large number of staff absences, which the superintendent said would affect student safety and the ability to operate schools.
