Happy Valentines Day!

‘Tis the month to celebrate what we love, and literacy is certainly a topic near and dear to my heart. Literacy is more than something I speak and write about; it is my life’s work.

So when, Pam Allyn of LitWorld, asked me to be an ambassador for World Read Aloud Day, it was with astounding joy I said yes!

World Read Aloud Day is about taking action to show the world that the right to read and write belongs to all people. Every child in the world deserves a chance at becoming a member of " the literacy club”.

I am determined for every child to experience the joys, pleasures, and privileges of lifelong membership, and I invite you and all the readers you know to join us on March 9, 2011 in a world wide celebration of literacy, stories, and the human spirit.

LitWorld’s motto is “Words Change Worlds.” By raising our voices together on this day, we show the world’s children that these words are what we know to be true.

For more information on how you and your school can participate in the events of World Read Aloud Day here:

See first hand how the simple act of reading a book aloud to a student unleashes the full power of words and changes lives in the process! See you on March 9th!
