The Education Week Teacher Book Club discussion of Lisa Delpit’s “Multiplication Is for White People": Raising Expectations for Other People’s Children (The New Press, 2012) opened today! If you’d like to ask Ms. Delpit a question, please feel free to click on over to the book club’s discussion page and let her know your thoughts. She will be answering questions for the next three days. Make sure to ‘Subscribe’ so that you’ll receive email updates as people contribute to the discussion.

If you want to get up to speed (or just refresh your memory) on Ms. Delpit’s book before you ask your questions, Teacher‘s Book Backgrounder has a good overview of the book, or you could even jump over to BookMarks’ own interview with Ms. Delpit, which focused on race, poverty, and teaching in low-income, inner-city schools.

It looks to be an interesting discussion, and I hope you all can participate.
