Weekly Reader Ends Its Run

As you may have heard yesterday, Weekly Reader—a staple of classrooms across the nation for more than 80 years—is no longer. Education Week‘s Jason Tomassini has the scoop.

The magazine was recently purchased by Scholastic, which is consolidating Weekly Reader with its own Scholastic News. The resulting publication will be known as Scholastic News Weekly Reader. However, significant layoffs are in the works for Weekly Reader employees and its office is shutting down.
