Las Vegas

Over 4,000 charter school professionals have gathered here for the industry’s largest yearly meeting, the 14th Annual National Charter Schools Conference hosted by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.

I’m here in Las Vegas covering the conference for Education Week both on the Charters & Choice blog and on Twitter @ChartersNChoice.

On tap are several sessions that speak to some of the big issues facing the charter school movement today, such as special education, finding and funding facilities, and handling pushback against expanding the charter sector in cities where traditional public schools are being shut down.

In addition, three new members will be inducted into the Charter School Hall of Fame, including Eva Moskowitz, the founder of Success Academy Charter Schools in New York City; and the winner of this year’s Broad Prize for Public Charter Schools will be announced on Tuesday.

Stay tuned.
