A new, $100 million program from the Obama administration that aims to help high schools better prepare students for college and high-tech careers is drawing mixed reactions.
Up to 40 grants between $2 million and $7 million will be awarded early next year to high schools working in partnership with colleges and employers. Some lawmakers don’t like discretionary money being used to fund the new Youth CareerConnect grants, while other groups would rather energy be placed into existing career technical education program.
