As springtime testing for the common core draws nearer, nearly a third of district superintendents are still scrambling to put in place the curriculum and professional development necessary to teach the standards, according to survey results released Wednesday.

Take a look at my story on edweek.org for more details on this new report by the Center on Education Policy, which has been tracking common-core implementation for four years. It’s an intriguing snapshot of schools’ readiness for common-core tests.

Sneak peek: Superintendents are more enthusiastic now than they were a few years ago about the common core’s rigor and its potential to improve students’ skills and knowlege. But they also are getting a clearer picture of the depth of the changes that are necessary to put the common standards fully into action. And big chunks of that work are still unfinished.

Read the story and see whether parts of it resonate in your districts.
