About the Authors
Kathleen Kennedy Manzo has been covering curriculum and standards for Education Week since 1996, including federal, state, and local policies, and classroom practices related to reading/language arts, social studies, the arts, and other subjects.
Sean Cavanagh has been been a reporter at Education Week since 2002, and he's covered math and science topics for the past four years. He's reported from districts around the country on these topics -- and from China, where he traveled in 2007, along with Education Week Director of Photography Sarah Evans, to examine teaching and learning in that country.
