Alas, no, my son isn’t so precocious that he can blog already. However, it’s largely his fault I’ve taken on the job of blogging about early childhood for Education Week.
I’ve spent many years reporting on K-12 and higher education, but now I need to learn the landscape of the youngest years for his sake. While Early Years will continue to explore policy and practice across the early childhood spectrum, I have a special interest in zero to three and bilingual babies.
Here’s a taste of what’s in my Google Reader to date: Early Stories, Preschool Matters, and my good friend Alexander Russo’s This Week in Education. Plus, newsletters from the National Association for the Education of Young Children and Chicago’s Erikson Institute, a leading school for early childhood teachers.
I’m sure there’s a lot more good stuff out there as well. Though my son can’t blog yet, he’s already enough of a cell phone whiz to call his great-uncle in Mexico. I’ll have to put him to work finding me more good sources. At the same time, dear readers, I hope you’ll help me get up to speed. I welcome your tips, comments, and ideas as we explore the Early Years.
