More from last week’s American Speech-Language-Hearing Association conference. A panel of researchers led by Sheila Bernstein discussed their finding that the presence of a therapy dog increased preschoolers’ language use, both in quantity and complexity. According to the press release for this session, “One child stated that he was afraid of the dog, but then went on to explain in detail, to the dog, why he was afraid—thereby reinforcing the results of the study.”
