President's Budget Proposal Touches All Facets of Early Learning
No matter where you stand in the early-childhood education arena, the president's budget proposal released today for fiscal 2014 offers something for you.
Do you like preschool? The president wants to see $75 billion over 10 years spent on a federal-state "Preschool for All" partnership that would expand state preschool offerings. Want to see more high-quality preschool programs? There's a $750 million preschool development grant proposed in the budget. Fond of home visiting programs? The budget proposes a $15 billion in such programs, which provide family-focused services to expectant parents and parents with young children.
My colleague Alyson Klein has the full rundown on the budget, including details on the proposed tobacco tax that would pay for much of these efforts.
