Policymakers talk a lot about the need to better calculate and report high school graduation rates so high schools can make sure more young adults earn diplomas. But my colleague Mary Ann Zehr reports in this very good story that as cloudy as the picture can be for English-speaking students, it’s worse for those still mastering the language. And ELL students face increased chances of dropping out. Important stuff to face as high schools strive to educate more and more immigrant students.
