Can a New Leader Bring Stability to Chicago Schools? (Video)

Chicago Public Schools is one of the largest school systems in the country, and historically one of the most troubled. But Janice Jackson, who took over as CEO of Chicago’s school system in January, has seen the challenges up close, having been a student, teacher, and principal at CPS before taking over as a district leader.

In this PBS Newshour video, Education Week correspondent Kavita Cardoza visited the Windy City to explore Jackson’s improvement strategies, focused primarily on building community trust and nurturing principals’ authority to make decisions.
