Podcast: Big Time Sports

From the podcast archives of "The Merrow Report" (scroll down to 2nd from last item), Sports Illustrated senior writer Frank Deford talks about the influence of big time sports on college campuses. Are sports that demand so much time and dedication really compatible with the demands of attaining an undergraduate degree? Mr. Deford thinks not. And what's more, he thinks these student-athletes deserve a salary. (Media player required.)

Although not being formally trained in Faciltated Communication, I worked with a student in the classroom who used this mode. I set "ground rules" for the communication; not abbreviating, for example, and was able to "tap into" her head, and found out just how smart she is. She was able to gain independence. I now know and love her as a person. It's not easy, but well worth it!
