NCLB Waiver News Keeps Coming
If you want details on the five states that were granted waivers from No Child Left Behind on June 29, check out my colleague Alyson Klein's post at Politics K-12 blog for lots of detail about states' waivers and some quotes. I contributed to Alyson's report but she did the bulk of the heavy lifting, particularly when it came to trends the approved waivers share.
It's been a busy recently for NCLB waivers, and in the past nine days we've seen a couple of firsts. Iowa was the first state to have its NCLB waiver request rejected, at least for the time being. Then Virginia became the first state not to adopt the Common Core State Standards to be approved for a waiver by the department.
Also, for some very important and new details about Iowa's request to have a "one-year freeze" on some of its NCLB requirements, check out the update to my June 27 post.
