DOE Solution: More Black Male Teachers »
From the article:
The Council of the Great City Schools released a national study in November on the achievement gap between black male students and their peers. The national study showed black males performed lower on almost every indicator. It said black males were nearly twice as likely to drop out of high school, scored lower on SAT college entrance tests, earned worse test scores in reading and were more likely to be suspended or held back a grade than their peers. It called the disparity a "national catastrophe."
