Grading Time

Fred the Fish of Are We Doing Anything Today? recently fell behind in grading, and it started taking her two hours a day to catch up. It got her to thinking:

Though I'm sure someone, somewhere in the blogosphere has asked this before, how much time do people spend grading. Is your 55 minute prep period enough to cover your bases?

Good question. And she's gotten some informative responses.

average 2 hours a day
grading never gets done during planning period, planning and gophering going on

I spend almost 5 hours a week entering in my grades for 6 seperate classes of middle school science in mygradebook.com. That doesn't include the actual grading of the material or lesson plans for 6 different classes.

Then, after I spend the time to do this and write all the parents notes telling them the password and address of the mygradebook, they are calling me at the end of each qt. in a panic to get their child's grade and follow up on missed assignments! argh! I wonder why I do it...

Has anyone read the book Currency of the Future by Brad DeHaven?

If you are still looking for a way to make it in the second quardrant take a look at

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has worked with the program "Currency of The Future" by Brad DeHaven. My son is interested in the program.
Thanks to everyone
