Discretion gets you nowhere.
For yesterday’s event at the V.P.'s house, I was asked by Jill Biden’s office to be the pool reporter for the NTOY celebration. My job was to write up a few quotes and a little color and feed it the media. So I did.
I came back to work and also wrote a post for this blog. I tried to be discreet and polite—the very things that journalists are taught not to do. I admit to withholding a quote or two.
Then, thanks to one of our savvy Web team members, I just received a link to The Huffington Post’s website feeding back to me a quote that I shared with the rest of the world, but not you.
So, here it is: At the event, Vice President Biden said, “I’ve been sleeping with a teacher for a long time, but it’s always been the same teacher.” The quote was originally picked up by Politico’s website.
