Edujobs Bill Nears Senate Approval

The New York Times is reporting that the Senate has cleared the path for the $26 billion bill that could provide states with $10 billion in aid to help school districts prevent teacher layoffs. The final Senate vote will be held on Thursday, with a House vote to follow.The bill could prevent some 140,000 teachers from losing their jobs.

According to the political website Talking Points Memo, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Twitter this afternoon that she will call the House back into session to pass the legislation.

The site reported that Pelosi tweeted the following: “I will be calling the House back into session early next week to save teachers’ jobs and help seniors & children.”
