EDUCATION HEAD HUNTERS

Reader Question:
I am searching for education head-hunters who have a proven record of matching educators with school districts. Please share a few (2-3) top head-hunters.

Thank you for your assistance.

Answer:
Dear Reader,
The hiring practices for teaching positions do not typically include head hunters since they do not really fit into the education application process nor are they used by school districts except sometimes in the case of Superintendent or Principal searches. Each school district across the country uses its own preferred application system which requires candidates to complete the district's application and send/upload additional supporting documentation such as resume, cover letter, transcripts, evidence of teaching certification, etc., in order to be considered for employment. In some cases, a number of districts have formed a consortium so that you only need to complete one application for multiple districts, saving you considerable time.

Check for job vacancies through your university career office, state board of education, school district websites in which you are interested, and other websites such as www.edweek.org, http://jobs.teachers.net, and www.k12jobs.com. You may also want to check Project Connect, a free online job vacancy service, http://careers.education.wisc.edu/projectconnect. Your university career office should have log-in information. In addition, network. Talk to people. Let them know you're looking. You never know where you might find an open door.

I realize searching for a teaching job can be a tedious and time-consuming process but it is the designated practice so just follow that path. All the best to you.

It would be pretty weird to have a head-hunting company recruit teachers... Informative post.
