The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has been welcomed as the 17th member of the Learning First Alliance (LFA), a group of national education associations whose stated goal is to improve student learning through sharing success stories, encouraging collaboration, and promoting research.
This marks the first ed-tech specific group admitted in LFA’s 25-year history. The Consortium for School Networking and International Association for K-12 Online Learning, two other large national ed-tech groups, are not members.
“Our membership in the Learning First Alliance allows us to bring a technology message to the broader education reform conversation,” ISTE CEO Don Knezek said in a statement. “We stand strongly behind the Alliance’s mission and look forward to helping everyone in the U.S. understand the important role technology plays in learning and in students’ lives.”
Among educators, ISTE is perhaps best known for its annual convention, which last year in Denver featured more than 350 workshop sessions, 450 exhibitors, and 600 presentations. This year’s convention is in late June in Philadelphia.
