What Is So Special About #Educon?
A couple years ago, I had the most unusual experience: I attended a conference, and it didn't feel like a complete waste of time.
Because this doesn't happen very often, I wrote a short piece trying to articulate the design principles that could, if applied, help more conference-planners apply a "special sauce" that transforms them from hum-drum to HOLY MOLY.
I was reminded of that piece after attending Educon -- an annual conference in Philly that brings together an eclectic mix of educators from across the country, and a global mix of virtual participants, thanks to the highly utilized #Educon hashtag and a tribe of early-adopting edu-Tweeters.
I had attended Educon once before -- I even wrote about it at the time -- but this time, I was accompanied by a camera crew, and in search of a better understanding of why folks see Educon as a must-attend event, and what the consensus is on the central question the conference is structured to address: What is the future of education?
See for yourself what I discovered. And let me know what it makes you think about.
