Lisa Guernsey at New America Foundation offers some thoughtful reflections on Montgomery County’s preK-12 efforts at Early Ed Watch, both as a policy researcher and a mom whose child transitioned from preschool to kindergarten within the system.

Lisa offers a couple of tools to help schools end the play vs. learning wars: the play-based teaching approach known as Tools of the Mind, and how a KIPP primary school uses storytelling and play to enhance literacy instruction.
