Here’s one I missed: The Institute of Education Sciences back in August unveiled plans for new federal research centers on mathematics and scaling up successful schools.

To see what’s on the work agenda for the three new centers—the National Research and Development Center on Scaling Up Effective Schools, the National Research and Development Center on Mathematics Standards and Assessment, and the National Research and Development Center on Cognition and Mathematics Instruction—check out my colleague Sean Cavanagh’s blog entry today in “Currculum Matters.” The full text of the official request for proposals can be found at this link.

If you’re planning on applying for one of the five-year center contracts, though, you’re out of luck. The competition closed Oct. 1. Contracts will be awarded in 2010.
