District Bars Basketball Team From Visiting Arizona

Officials of a suburban school district in Illinois have created a stir by barring a girl’s high school basketball team from participating in a tournament in Arizona in reaction to that state’s new immigration-enforcement law, according to the Associated Press.

District officials cited safety issues. The immigration law requires local police to inquire about the immigration status of people they suspect are living in the country illegally when they have law-enforcement interactions with them.
