To help reduce expenses, Fairfax County schools won’t provide summer school for English-learners this coming summer but rather offer them some English lessons over the Internet, according to the Washington Post‘s Answer Sheet.

Two years ago I wrote a story about how lots of school districts were realizing that it was good for them to provide English-as-a-second-language classes in summer school, so that ELLs could keep up and improve their English skills over the summer.

I wonder if, like Fairfax County, some school districts will have to pare back those classes because of budget pressures.
