The U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up a case that held the potential to deal a further blow to public-employee unions after last year's "Janus" decision.


A federal district judge has blocked a Texas law that prohibits boycotts of Israel as a condition of public contracting, including in the state's school districts.


Education groups worry that adding the citizenship question would depress response rates on the 2020 census and result in the misallocation of federal education aid.


The issue is significant not only for school employment but also for whether a related federal law would protect students on the same basis.
