A top official who has helped lead the effort to create common academic standards is urging K-12 and college leaders to work more closely with each other in aligning expectations for students.

That message was delivered by Gene Wilhoit, the executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers, at a forum in Louisville, Ky., designed to examine how the two tribes can work together in implementing the Common Core State Standards. Wilhoit, as Education Week readers will remember, was sidelined over the holidays by a heart attack, but he’s back in the swing.

Check out my colleague Catherine Gewertz’s coverage of the event for more details.
