On Sept. 9, the White House announced it will host a “Champions of Change” event in honor of Connected Educator Month in October. This event is part of President Barack Obama’s ConnectED Initiative, which was launched in June and aims to give 99 percent of students in public schools access to wireless high-speed Internet within the next five years.

The White House is asking for nominations for “ConnectED Champions of Change.” It describes good nominees as teachers who “are using technology to increase engagement, boost achievement, and spur creativity in unprecedented ways.” Nominees may be selected to attend the event at the White House. Anyone who would like to nominate a teacher for the award should complete the online form by Sept. 20, 2013.
