Serious Games Association to Launch Directory
Looking for educational games to bring into your classroom? Soon, there will be a new place to discover them.
The Serious Games Association will unveil a Serious Games Directory later this calendar year, a resource that will include listings for commercially available games and simulations organized into five categories, according to a press release.
Two of those categories—"education" and "games for good"—likely figure to include listings of use to K-12 educators. Serious game creators can create a listing for their game at the directory homepage.
The directory will offer free listings of titles and brief game descriptions to all users in 2012, while paying members of the Serious Games Association will have access to more in-depth information. The association, which launched only in February, is the only trade association established to support the entire international serious games industry, according to its website.
In addition to games that carry an educational or social aim, the association also supports makers of games and simulations designed for consumers in the government or military, health industry, and the corporate world.
