Senate Democrats and members of the Obama Administration made a pitch for passage of the DREAM Act at a hearing today before the Senate judiciary committee.

According to the Associated Press, a number of students who would benefit from the act, which would provide a path to U.S. citizenship for some undocumented youths in this country, were present at the hearing.

A USA Today journalist reported that remarks by lawmakers at the hearing indicated that Democrats have a long way to go to convince Republicans to support the act.
